Hoshi: Keeping Children Safe is a Children’s Personal Safety organisation based in Pontypridd, South Wales. We are not-for-profit group registered with the Charity Commission and Companies House in England & Wales as a Community Interest Company (registration no: 10688529).
Starting off as a Children’s Martial Arts class in 2008, we have evolved to where we are today: An organisation that gives children the skills to stay safe everywhere!
Young children are using social media more and more. While we know that children under 13 should not be using sites such as Facebook and Twitter, the reality is they do. Therefore we have a strong emphasis on using them safely and knowing how to keep important information private. Hoshi’s mission is to show children how to stay safe in all aspects of their lives!
We are members of:
- The Anti Bullying Alliance
- All Styles Martial Arts Association
- Youth Cymru
- Children in Wales
All our Coaches are insured, DBS checked and first aid trained. They also do a wide range of child safety courses certified by organisations such as NSPCC, Kidscape, Action 4 Children & St Johns Ambulance. Our certifications include:
- Child Safety in Sport & Active Leisure
- Preventing Bullying (Anti Bullying Alliance course)
- Keeping Children Safe Online (NSPCC course)
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
- Safeguarding the welfare of Children & Young people
As well as Children’s classes, we also offer Adult’s Self Defence classes and Ladies only classes. We are the 1st Martial Arts organisation to teach at Wales Millennium Centre, exhibiting at the World of Women 2015 festival.
Our website aims to become a portal on all things involving Child Safety, and a resource for children, parents and professionals.
